IPOs and Rights Issues

Participating in New Share Offerings

An Initial Public Offering (IPO) is when a private company sells shares to the public for the first time, listing on the Pakistan Stock Exchange. IPOs can offer exciting opportunities to invest in growing companies at their debut price — and historically, many PSX IPOs have delivered strong first-day gains. Rights issues, on the other hand, allow existing shareholders to purchase additional shares at a discounted price.

Pakistan's IPO process follows a book-building mechanism regulated by SECP, where institutional and retail investors bid for shares within a specified price band. As a retail investor, you can participate through your broker by submitting a bid during the book-building period. Understanding the prospectus, evaluating the company's fundamentals, and knowing the allocation process are key to making smart IPO investment decisions.
