Reading Financial Statements
Decoding Corporate Financial Reports
Every publicly listed company on PSX is required to publish quarterly and annual financial statements. These documents — the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement — tell the complete financial story of a business. Learning to read them is the single most important skill for any serious stock investor.
Pakistani financial statements follow International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and are audited by chartered accountancy firms. You can access them through the PSX website, company investor relations pages, or the SECP filing system. While the format may seem intimidating at first, the core concepts are surprisingly intuitive once you understand what each line item represents and how the three statements connect to each other.
